Ayurveda - Nature Delivered

The origins of “The Science of Life” or Ayurveda (Translation of Ayur is Life and Veda means Knowledge) are as ancient as mankind. Ayurveda is the oldest continually practiced form of medicine in the world having a positive concept of health to be achieved through a blend of physical, mental, social, moral, and spiritual welfare. Ancient texts and healers in India perfected the art and science of natural health and beauty from that time! Ayurveda promotes positive health, natural beauty and a long life. It is based on certain universal principles and this was first recorded thousands of years ago. Ayurveda is considered by most as the “Mother of all Medicines”.

Today, we are constantly exposed to non-stop stress, pollutants and chemicals, toxins just to name a few on a daily basis and so people are going back to their roots in search of traditional, natural, herbal, and Ayurvedic remedies to help them cope with these daily stressors! Encompassing wellness of body, mind and spirit, Ayurveda encourages vitalization that extends into your cell.

In classical Ayurveda, only the highest standards of natural ingredients are used to treat the issue. Conscious consumers world over are searching for natural beauty and body care products that would enhance their natural beauty and health which is what Ayurveda is all about!

Ayurveda believes in the concept of “poly herbalism”, so any issue be it for skin, hair or health is treated comprehensively by understanding and treating the root cause of the problem. The main principles of Ayurveda are to protect the health of a healthy person and to eradicate the disease. No substance in the world cannot be used as medicine as per Charaka.

As per Ayurveda, the human body is a microcosm of the entire universe and the five elements – space, air, fire, water and earth are the building blocks of everything that exists in the universe including you and me.

These five elements form the basis of the three doshas in Ayurveda:

  • Vata which is composed of Air and Space or Ether
  • Pitta which is composed of Fire and Water
  • Kapha which is composed of Earth and Water

Each individual have the presence of each of the five elements and so the doshas in unique proportions which make up our Prakruti or constitution. This can be disturbed by any  type of stress leading to an imbalance known as Vikruti. In Ayurveda the disease is treated on a customized individual basis after deeply understanding the root cause,.

I am sure that we all have memories where our grandmothers and elders had a homemade recipe passed down through generations for treating various ailments and beauty rituals and remedies. Most of these had roots in Ayurveda – be it drinking certain brews for cold and coughs, to hair oils or face and body packs and scrubs! These remedies are still relevant till date and continue to work like magic!

In our busy lives we need to take care of our mind, body and soul, Ayurveda holds secrets to all three that help you in ways that you cannot even imagine! This blog is a small attempt to share this magic with you!
